Well I have to say that it is not often that I have to "Eat My Words".

But today, I do!

For years Iโ€™ve dismissed claims that collagen supplements help the skin produce collagen. The basis for my distain came from the fact that any food or supplement once consumed will be broken down into its smallest nutritional units and then remade into whatever the body chooses.

The idea that a fibre of collagen from a cow or pig could make its way into your body and then deposit itself in the skin was preposterous to me!

Janine Tait, Bestow Beauty's creator was also under the same belief until she suffered from some debilitating health issues.   While healing her gut she learnt that collagen could be absorbed across the intestinal barrier and into the blood in short chains of three amino acids. These little peptides, while a long way from being full collagen fibres, give the skin a head start in the collagen making process.

However, that isnโ€™t even the most important thing about collagen supplements! Learning more about the two main amino acids that make up collagen completely swayed me. These amino acids are proline and glycine. They are both considered to be non-essential because technically our bodies can make them from other amino acids. However, in reality your body canโ€™t make enough proline and glycine to meet its own demands. This means we DO need to get them from our diet and unfortunately, they are both very hard to source in any meaningful quantity. The only known sources providing good amounts of proline and glycine are bone broth and you guessed it, collagen supplements!

There are many collagen supplements on the market now but there is one essential difference that makes Bestow Beauty's extra special. ๐—œ๐˜ ๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐—ป๐˜๐—ฎ๐—ถ๐—ป๐˜€ ๐˜‡๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฐ!

Your skin canโ€™t make collagen without zinc, and most of us donโ€™t have enough zinc! Unfortunately, zinc is a very reactive mineral and it can be tricky to add it to food-based supplements. Luckily they have found a stabilised source from a company in the USA so they are feeling pretty pleased of themselves. They have also lightly sweetened it with (the very expensive) monk fruit extract which is the very best, and healthiest option available on the market.

Excited???? I am!!!

Give your Skin an Unfair Advantage!

Research shows that taking a daily collagen supplement can make a real difference to our skin. Why? Because our body simply canโ€™t make enough. We rely on diet to provide the nutritional building blocks for collagen. Our modern diets are low in these key components.
